Titanium is expensive?

Well, if you are only considering the price level per gram or kilogramm, you may be right. But - that are by far not all the facts about titanium.

When thinking of titanium every layman has in mind a product of high technology. And it is true that titanium, from the view of the professional developer or technician, too, is an absolutely high-quality material.

It is a further fact that titanium shows its best properties when you have reached the limits of good stainless steel materials like 1.4581/1.4571 or 1.4462/1.4461.

So it is probably a good idea to overthink and judge your constructive priorities when you intend to change to titanium material:

  • If you are satisfied with the properties of the material you are using now most times you can remarkably reduce wall thicknesses.

  • If you do not want to change the overall dimensions but only a material change from stainless steel to titanium material you get strength and rigidity which are most times far beyond the limits of your formerly used material.

  • Titanium has a far better bio-compatibility than stainless steel. This is very important when ist comes to medical industry, implants or food industry.

  • In connection with a highly agressive medium (as, for example, found in many applications within chemical industry, or at water treatment plants, the timespan between service intervals will increase tremendously due to the higher lifetime of each unit.

But let us come back to the subject of price:

  • Titanium is a lot more lightweight compared with stainless steel, so parts based on titanium have a weight of only around 60 percent of the same part out of stainless steeel. And if the part is optimized following the possibilities of titanium material you often will end at half the weight or even less!

  • The last mentioned point is a very important argument when your product is somewhat what the enduser has to handle or to carry all day long. Had you ever felt how tiring and uncomfortable some 50 grams more on a tool can be when it is your turn to handle it endless hours every day?
When optimal ergonometry is not only a thing of marketing in your company but really seen as saved weight in daily use, and if you further want to get even better properties of the material itself, many times the used material at last will be titanium.

And, well, let us really and firmly come to the point: Even the pure price level itself is joy when you have met Form and Technik GmbH as your business partner. Some of our competitors get headaches when looking on their executed and not executed projects.

Of course we cannot set wonders surrounded by a world of price increases, that is right. But before you think "all these guys are cooking with same water" please carefully check the existing differences ... - and, well, we think you then will want to make a test on us as our many trusty customers did in the first step.

We will be glad to get your inquiries.
